JOY tells the story of a young woman from Nigeria who is caught in the vicious circle of human trafficking and sexual exploitation. She works as a prostitute in Vienna to buy her freedom from her pimp, the Madame, to support her family in Nigeria and to secure a future for her young daughter. Freedom seems within Joy's grasp when the Madame hands her control of Precious, a young girl from Nigeria who is not yet ready to resign herself to her fate. "Cleverly, this film turns the tables.
